CarXray provides vehicle history reports and AI-powered photo analysis for used car buyers. Reports combine data from government databases (NMVTIS, NHTSA) and third-party data providers with proprietary AI analysis of user-submitted photos.
Reports are typically generated within a few minutes. However, depending on vehicle history complexity, number of photos uploaded, and current system load, generation may take up to 1 hour in some cases. You will receive a push notification when your report is ready. You do not need to keep the app open.
Vehicle history data is sourced from the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS), NHTSA, and third-party providers. This data covers vehicles registered in the United States and Canada.
If no historical data is found for a given VIN, the report will indicate that no accident, title, service, or ownership records were found in the databases covering the US and Canada. This does not mean the vehicle has no history — it means the vehicle may not have been registered, titled, or reported in these countries. For vehicles originating outside the US and Canada, VIN history data is generally unavailable.
AI photo analysis is available worldwide regardless of where the vehicle is registered.
Reports are available as one-time in-app purchases through Apple's App Store. Multi-report packs are also available at discounted prices. All payments are processed by Apple. Prices are displayed in your local currency at checkout. There are no subscriptions or recurring charges.
If report generation fails after purchase, you will automatically receive a free report credit. For other refund requests, contact Apple directly through the App Store or your purchase confirmation email.
Vehicle history reports may not include all incidents. Not all accidents, repairs, or title events are reported to the databases we query. A clean report does not guarantee the absence of problems. Data accuracy depends on what was reported by participating agencies, insurance companies, auto auctions, salvage yards, and state motor vehicle agencies.
AI photo analysis is for screening purposes only. Results are probabilistic and should be verified by a qualified mechanic. AI will not detect any damage not visible in photos (e.g., undercarriage, engine, frame damage). AI may also miss some visible damage due to photo angle, resolution, or obstructions. Reflective surfaces, difficult lighting conditions, and dirty vehicles can produce false positives. Repaint detection may be inconclusive on very dark or very bright vehicles.
This report is a screening tool, not a substitute for an independent physical inspection. We strongly recommend having any vehicle inspected by a certified mechanic before purchase.
This service uses data from the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS). NMVTIS is intended to serve as a reliable source of title and brand history for vehicles registered in the United States, but does not contain detailed repair history. Not all states report in real-time. Visit vehiclehistory.bja.ojp.gov for more information.
CarXray provides information "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We are not liable for decisions made based on our reports, including but not limited to vehicle purchase decisions. Maximum liability is limited to the purchase price of the report.
You may delete your account at any time from the Settings screen. This permanently removes all your data including reports, photos, and personal information.
We may update these terms. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
